OUR DESTINATIONS

Angola Flag

Angola

Angola lies on the on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean in west southern Africa bordering Namibia, Zambia, the DR Congo and Congo Brazzaville. One of Africa’s largest and most resource rich countries, it is also one of her most geographically diverse countries; from the Namibe desert at sea level on the Atlantic in her south-west, an arid coastal strip extending to the River Congo, a vast highland plateau between 1200 and 1800m, rolling hills and mountains rising to Mt. Mocowhose peak at 2,620m is the highest point in Angola, to fertile rain forest jungle in her north, east and Cabinda;Angola is also home to many lakes and rivers including the Zambezi, the River Congo, the Okabango, River Cuando and River Cuango. River, Lake Dilolo is Angola’s largest and a birders havenas well as really nice weather when you consider her position on the African tropicsand near the Kalahari Desert.

Despite her turbulent past which had ravaged much of her infrastructures and national parks, Angola has risen from the ashes and done a great job of upgrading her infrastructure in the short time since 2002, thanks to relative peace and tremendous wealth from natural resources such as oil and diamond.Today, the country welcomes tourists to savor her many unexploited tourist marvels attractions from white sandy beaches on her 1,700km coastline and offshore islands in the Atlantic promising sun, sand and fun as well as mysterious African nights filled with animated local music and dance. The under-developed hinterland is a bed rock of history, culture, mind-boggling nature including the Kalandula Falls (Africa’s second largest water fall), the Tundavala Fissure, The Black Rocks of PungoAdongo, numerous National wildlife Parks as well as a stunningly beautiful and mysterious countryside. Luanda, her capital and principal port is a cosmopolitan city of 7m with gleaming skyscrapers, beautiful beaches, world class hotels and restaurants, many historical, cultural and political landmarks and a vibrant nightlife. It is perfect for business, leisure, meetings, incentives, conferences and events her reputation as one of the world’s most expensive cities notwithstanding.

NB: Because some of the roads away from the main cities are still in poor condition making driving slow, rough and tedious; and considering the country’s large size, we recommend flying whenever that is possible. At any rate, we conduct all drives in suitable 4WD vehicles for maximum mobility and comfort. Because some of the National Parks remain closed and inaccessible as well as by the very nature of the country, our Angola tours combine nature, leisure, adventure and sprinkling of wildlife. As an emerging, post war, tourism destination that is also oil rich, the cost of living in Angola is very high for all which makes the price of goods and services seem high compared to the other well developed Africa destinations.
